We are excited to announce we are now offering mini classes! The biggest complaint that we hear is that people do not have enough TIME to scrap or come to classes. The Mini Classes will be 30 minutes to an hour. And best of all you will leave iwth a completed project to show for your time! And as an added bonus, the classes are only $5-$10 each!

This month we will make not one but TWO of these adorable note pads. Thay will look great on your desk, by your telephone or to give as a gift! You will have a choice of green (as shown) yellow or hot pink!

Be sure to check back for other Mini Classes. These classes will be offered 1 or 2 times a month and will include cards, quick layouts, gifts, home decor, . . .

March Layout Contest Entries

Here are this month's entries for the Layout of the Month contest. Everyone started with the same pieces that they HAD to use. They were all able to alter these items or add to them to complete their layout. Each one is so different from the last that it's hard to imagine they all started with the same items! Everyone did a WONDERFUL job! We will announce the winner on Saturday, March 28th.

The kits for the April contest will be available on a 1st come, 1st served basis starting April 1st. They will be due on the 2nd Saturday of the month. If you pick up a kit & do not return it for the contest, you will not be allowed to participate again for 6 months. The winner will get a free crop & a goody bag.

Spirit Horse Crops for a Cause

The organization they are supporting this spring is the SpiritHorse Therapeutic Center located in Corinth, TX. SpiritHorse is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides all private therapeutic horseback riding services free to people with disabilities, children who are victims of abuse, at-risk-youth, youth after drug-rehab and battered women. They currently serve over 450 children and adults FREE OF CHARGE, more than any center in the world. SpiritHorse depends on donations from foundations, corporations and individuals like you to support their program. Please visit their website to learn more about this wonderful organization and the difference they are making in the lives of children and young people in our community.

Since I didn't find this site until a week ago I've been playing catch up. Here is the layout I made for sketch #1. I used paper & stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle's Love letters collection.

Here is my layout for sketch #2 using Granola from Basic Grey. I still need to do the journaling which will be done in strips at the bottom left side. This is my fav of the 3. The title reads "Bend when the wind blows." I thought that was perfect since the pictures are of the carvings that were made from what was left of the trees after Hurricane Katrina. These pictures were taken just off the beach in Biloxi, MS.

This is the 3rd sketch. This layout was perfect for me. I take alot of pictures so I usually put alot of pictures on each page. I used the Let It Bloom collection from Black Market Paper Society.

Recipe Swap

Several people have asked what the recipe cards should look like. Here are some samples of some of the recipe cards that I received in the online recipes swaps that I have done. There was a wide variety of styles, techniques & skill levels. Don't worry that your's will not be good enough. We can all learn from each other.

Here are the guidelines for the swap.

each card will need to be 6"x6" with a cardstock base so it will be more durable

each card will need to be embellished (eyelets, inking, matting, stickers, diecuts, stamping, . . .) atleast 3 times just ask if you have any questions.

please sign the back of the card so we know who did which one

you will make one for each person in the group, then keep 1 for yourself & turn in the rest so I can divide them up to distribute.

If we have alot of people sign up, I will break it down into smaller groups.

If you sign up, but cannot make the deadline, please contact the store ASAP

Valentine's Day Project Classes

On Thursday, January 22nd is the Valentin Photo Flasher Class at 6pm. Cost is only $10 per person. This is an adorable mini album to show of your favorite little Valentines. This is also a great class for kids to make a gift for Mom, Dad or Grandparents.

I hope everyone had a safe & Merry Christmas! I know as scrapbookers y'all took plenty of pictures. Be sure to stop by & stock up on plenty of paper to scrap your holiday memories! New Product!

Here are pictures of our new Hannah Montana & High School Musical papers & stickers. They are perfect whether your daughter is a pop star want-to-be or has the biggest crush on Troy! And don't forget, High School Musical 3 is coming out on October 24th!

Here are a few of the papers & the stickers for the His & Hers collection from Sandylion. This makes a great couples, anniversary, engagement, Valentine's . . . page. Although some of the papers are generic enough that they don't have to be used for couples themed pages. All of the papers are double sided.

I am SO excited about these new products. I have been looking for things that the big box stores don't have. The blue bag on the left is the Krafter's Purse. It holds all the items that you just have to have with you no matter what you are working on. There is a separate Karousel that makes it a rotating (& cute . . . & portable) storage option. These purses are available in bright blue, lime green or khaki. The picture on the right shows the Krafter's Komfycush. If you crop somewhere that does not have padded seats, then this is a must, it is a portable kushion that has handy pockets on both sides of your chair. When you are ready to leave, just fold it up & go! It even has it's own carrying strap! It's available in lime green & passion pink. We also have the KP2 which is a larger version of the Krafter's purse and is available in lime green or purple. If you would like a different color, let me know & we can see about doing a special order.

September's Almost Over!

It's hard to believe that September is more than half over. But guess what?!?!? Today is our 8 month anniversary!!!! It's hard to believe that we have already been open that long!

Next week is our Scrap Pink Weekend. We still have 2 spots for the all day crop on Saturday, September 27th. Cost is only $30 & will include lunch, dinner, drinks, snacks & goody bags. On Friday, September 26th we will have a No-Frills Crop. Cost is $10 & the entire crop fee goes in the Scrap Pink donation. Anyone attending the No-Frills or All Day Crop will receive 15% off all purchases.

And don't forget your entry for the Decorated Bra Contest. There is no charge to enter & you have a chance at winning a $50 gift certificate to Scrap & Crop. All entries are due by September 27th & voting will begin that day. Everytime you make a purchase, you will get a ballot to vote for your favorite decorated bra. OR you can buy a vote for $1 each. All proceeds will be included with the Scrap Pink donation. Here is a picture of the 1st entry.

On Tuesday, September 23rd at 6pm, is the Beyond George Class. This is where we take a Cricut cartridge (or 2) to make a layout. You are not required to have the particular cartridge that we are using, but you will need to bring your own Cricut machine. Here is a picture of the Back to School layout we will be doing.

Then Thursday, September 25th at 6pm is the Beaded Frame & Pen class. Cost is only $10 & you will have a nice gift to give or keep for yourself. This class will only be about 30 -45 minutes long.

Then we have this adorable Altered Mini Clipboard class on Saturday, October 4th at 1pm. Cost is $15. We will be using the Basic Grey Euphoria line for this project & you can personalize it with your own message across the bottom.

Be sure to call ahead & make reservations for the class you are interested in because if we do not have enough signed up, the class may end up being cancelled.

One last thing. The newest line we have received is The Daily Grind from Fancy Pants. Whether you spend your days at a desk in the class room or at the office, this is the perfect collection to feature your everyday photos!

Here I am . . .neglecting my blog again! I THOUGHT I would have more time once the kids when back to school, but the day goes by so fast! I guess that's just part of having a job you absolutely love!

We have a month packed with classes! This Saturday we have 2 classes for you. The Sea World layout class is at 1pm. You will make a 2 page laylout featuring Bazzill Bling and a paper pieced orca whale! Cost is only $15. The Stab Bound Book class is at 4pm. You will make TWO journals WITHOUT using expensive equipment. These journals are easy to make & make great gifts! Cost is only $12.

Tuesday, September 9th at 6pm is the Mini Album in a Box class. You have your choice of Black Market Paper Society papers to make this adorable album with it's own matching box that will look great on your desk or as a gift. Cost is only $12.

Saturday, September 13 at 1pm is the Glimmer Mist Layout class for $10. If you LOVE using glimmer mist & are looking for new ways to use it, then this is the class for you!

Thursday, September 18th at 6pm is the BoBunny Moments Like This layout class for only $21. You will make 2 - 2 page layouts using BoBunny's beautiful Beau Jardin papers.

Saturday, September 20th at 1pm is the Day at the Beach layout class. We will use the Tidepool collection from Creative Imagainations to make this beautiful 2 page layout for all those beach pictures you took this summer . . . or last summer . . . . or the summer before that! Cost is only $15.

August Classes!!!!

We have alot of classes ready for you this month!

On Tuesday, August 12th at 6pm we will make this cute Halloween paper bag book to put all your favorite Ghosts & Goblins in! Cost is only $15. Please bring adhesive (zip dry works best), scissors, and ink pad (if you wish to distress the edges of your cardstock). You will find that this book can be easily adapted to fit any occasion or theme!

Then on Saturday, August 16th at 1pm we will be making this BoBunny Purse Board Book. This will make a great gift for the person in your life that was "Born to Shop"! Cost is $20 and the class will last approximately 3 hours. You will need to bring scissors, wet adhesive (Zip Dry works best), glue dots, paper trimmer, sanding block/paper and ink or chalk for distressing the edges (optional).

On Thursday, August 21st at 6pm, we will be making this "Day at the Zoo" layout with Tiffany, using the My Jungle Safari line from Designs by Reminisce. Tiffany is a new teacher for us, but she has tought classes previously before moving to Texas. When you stop by the store, be sure to check out the next 2 classes that Tiffany will be teaching! Cost is only $15. You will need to bring adhesive and distressing ink (optional).

This Saturday is the Journal & Address book class featuring papers from Black Market Paper Society. Check the last post for photos & description. We are also having a Beginner's class on Tuesday, July 29th. This is a free class & we will be going over the basics of scrapbooking while completing a 12x12 layout.

We received in a new shipment of paper from Best Creations. They make the beautiful glitter paper that is ONLY 99 cents! Here are photos of some of them.

Another new product that I'm excited about are the doodling templates from The Crafter's Workshop. If you are as doodled challenged as I am you will L-O-V-E these templates! Or if you want to try freehanded doodling, check out the Oodles of Doodles book.

Summer CHA show

The Summer CHA show is this weekend. Unfortunately I can't go, but I have seen the sneak peeks & I have placed orders! So keep checking back for pictures of the new stuff as it arrives.

Our big news this week is the new custom school paper! It got here alot quicker than I expected & it's flying off the shelf just as fast. I was only able to get Denton High School, Ryan High School, Guyer High School & Liberty Christian School. The next time I order, I will choose different schools (probably from some of the small towns around Denton). So if I didn't order your school this time, please let me know if you would be interested & what school.

Our calendar shows that we have the BoBunny Purse Board book class next week, but I have decided to reschedule it for a Saturday in August so we can schedule more time to complete the project. Check our online calendar for updates.

Next Saturday, July 26th (1pm), we will have the Journal & Address book class. Both books will be made from scratch & will be bound during class using the Bind-It-All machine. Be sure to sign up today! Cost is only $15. This would make a great gift for the student going off to college or even a just-because-you-deserve-it gift for yourself!

On Thursday, August 7th (6pm) we will be doing this beautiful 2 page "Beach Days" Layout class. If you have been anywhere near the beach this summer, you definately need this layout in your scrapbook. Cost is only $15. You will need to bring adhesive and pop dots for this class. An ink pad for distressing the edges is optional. Tiffany used the Tim Holtz Tea Dye & Old Paper Distressing ink pads on her sample layout.

On Thursday, August 21st (6pm) we will be doing this adorable 2 page "A Day at the Zoo" layout using paper piecing. This layout would be perfect for all those zoo pictures you took this summer! Cost is only $15 You will need to bring adhesive, a black pen and an ink pad for distressing the edges (optional).

Biloxi View

We had a great time on our vacation in Biloxi, but it's also good to be back home! It was a very hectic time because my niece had just won the Miss Mississippi pageant the week before. But we were glad we got to see her & be in on some of the excitement. There is alot more that goes into a pageant than what you see on TV. We are very proud of her & this will be the 1st time we will be rooting for someone other than Miss Texas during the Miss America Pageant! The last time we went to Biloxi was in January 2003. It was very interesting to see how the area has changed since the hurricane. You have to have respect for the people that were able to come back to such devastation and rebuild their lives from scratch.

This week we are having an all day crop on Saturday instead of a late night crop. It will be from 10am till 10pm and includes lunch, drinks, snacks & your own 6' table. The cost is $20 & we only have 2 spots left!

Then next Saturday, July 18th we will have our Teddy Bear Accordion Frame class. This is the stand up version of the License Plate Wall Hanging class we had back in March. Space is limited so call to make your reservations today!

Later this month (July 26th) we will be making this beautiful Jouranl and Address Book Set. You will cover both of the books & will use the Bind-It-All system to put the final product together! The cost is only $15 for both.

We are already working on the August calendar. If there is a particular class you would like to see us do, feel free to make a suggestion!

We still have a little bit of a mess going on, but I have moved enough stuff around that I was able to put the Vita Bella line (from Little Yellow Bicycle) and the Euphoria line(from Basic Grey) out on the floor. Here are some pictures of them:

The Vita Bella line has blues & greens. There are 3 diecut papers & 2 metallic papers in this line. The rest are regular double sided cardstock and plenty of embelishments to choose from! For those of you that attended the National Scrapbooking Day crop, this is the same line as the make & take folded album that you received.

The Euphoria Collection from Basic Grey has pinks, blues, yellows and some purples. Some papers are floral & the fibers for this collection are wonderful!

We also received the new releases from Creative Imaginations including the Lionel Trains line, more beach paper (in BEAUTIFUL turquoise colors) and the ADORABLE Debbie Mumm Froggie Frolic line!

I hope everyone has been having a good week & enjoyed the brief break from the heat yeseterday! I know my husband did because he had to mow yesterday!

We have several classes scheduled for the next 2 weeks! On Wednesday, June 25th, we will have a BoBunny Stamping Techniques class. You will complete 2 12"x12" layouts along with a card, and invitation & a cute poem using different stamping techniques. Plus, you get to keep the BoBunny Aloha Stamps!

Then on Saturday, June 28th we will have the Post-It Note Holder class from 1-3pm. The class is only $8 & you will make 2 of them - - - 1 to keep & 1 to give to a friend!

THEN . . . on Wednesday, July 2nd (just in time for July 4th!) we will have the Patriotic Family Accordian Album class. The class starts at 6pm & is just $22 per person. Be sure to make your reservation early as space is limited!

Blog neglect

Uh-oh! I've been neglecting my blog again! Things have been hectic around here with the end of school and GASC going on at the same time! I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at how busy I was during the convention. I assumed that everyone would be there & I would be slow, but I had alot of out of town customers. Some were people that were here for the convention and others were in town for graduations. I had fun at the classes I took on Thursday & can't wait to get everything together to do an explosion box class. I'm almost done with the box that I did, but I still need to do the finishing touches on it. My niece & I had a blast covering this thing with stickles! We went a LITTLE stickles crazy! LOL! I will post pictures when it's done!

My UPS guy came today and brought me a WONDERFUL present - - - GLIMMER MIST! IF you have never tried glimmer mist, come by the store & check them out. We have 6 different colors and can add to them if everyone likes them. I have seen several projects that people have done with glimmer mist & it just adds a little shimmer (along with color) to whatever you are working on.

This week we have a FREE beginners class on Thursday. This class with cover the basics of scrapbooking for the 1st timer. In the class we will complete a 12"x12" layout using various techniques. Even though this is a free class, please call for reservations so we can have enough class kits made up.

This Friday we will have a Friday the 13th crop. This is the ONLY Friday the 13th this year so we will be giving all croppers a 13% discount. Make youre reservations today. We do need to have 5 reservations for the crop to make.

Next Tuesday (June 17th), is our Mom & Me Crop. The cost is only $1 per person to cover the cost of juice & cookies, but please let us know you are coming so we can have enough snacks for everyone!

Ribbon Cutting & Classes!!

What a week! We had a ribbon cutting on Tuesday & everything went great! I freaked out a bit when they said I was supposed to actually say something! But I survived! LOL! And I want to thank my sales rep Cathy for being there & taking pictures for me!

Today we are having our Squash book class. We still have room if anyone wants to come tonight! Just give me a call so I can make sure to have a kit ready. Cost is only $12.

Next Wednesday, May 28th we will have our Father's Day card & gift bag class. Here is a picture of what we will be making.

You can add a gift card, photo or message to the bottom of the "4U" card. The class is only $10 & will start at 6pm.

We will be having another Beginner's class on Thursday, June 12th at 1pm. This is a very basic class that will go over how to mat photos & put together a layout.

Squash Book Class

FINALLY! I had to go round & round with my camera again today, but after figuring out that my laptop has a card reader built in (I told y'all I was computer challenged! LOL!) I finally unloaded the pictures I took.

So here is the Squash book that we will be doing in next Thursday's class (May 22nd @ 6pm). This makes a very impressive book that looks complicated, but is very easy to make. The hardest part is deciding who to give it to! You can do the inside anyway you want, but here is a sample of how I did mine. So call today to make your reservations for the class. The cost is only $12!

What a hectic weekend! My daughter had her dance recital on Saturday so my niece Andrea & her daughter (isn't she adorable!) watched the store for me while I was gone Saturday evening. The other picture is of my mom & Nina after the recital.

Then it was on to a full day of Mother's Day celebrations on Sunday. I told my husband he didn't have to get me anything since we are down to one income for now, but he just can't do that (we went thru this on our anniversary, too!) So I now have my very 1st flash drive. That may not sound like a big deal to most of y'all, but I'm a little computer challenged. I did get some photos loaded onto it (for my digital photo frame), but I can't figure out how to load music to play on the frame (that was the main reason we wanted the flash drive). I'll leave that up to Noe to figure out!

Last Friday I received another shipment of new releases from Creative Imaginations. My favorite is the "Old Guys Rule" collection. It is great if you know a guy that is about to retire (like my dad!) or just hitting one of those milestone birthdays! If you look closely at the top paper, you can see a guy in his recliner with a remote in one hand & a beer in the other!

This shipment also included some super cute die cut card stock (white swirls, pink flowers or brown dots). I can't wait to see what layouts y'all come up with using these papers. Could there possibly be a contest??? Let me know if you are interested!

This Saturday we will be doing our 1st ever Try It! Day. We will select a product & set it out on the crop table for you to try out. I'm still finding alot of people who do not know what Stickles are. If that is you, be sure to stop by this Saturday to check it out. And if you are already familiar with Stickles, stop by anyway. You just might find your new favorite color!

SPECIAL ORDERS I have had alot of customers ask for items that we don't carry here at the store but they can't find them elsewhere. If you find your self in this situation, just ask me if I can get it. I have a distributor that carries alot of different brands and I have actually been able to fill alot of requests. I have been ordering about once a month (sometimes more if I have enough orders!) so I should be able to get it to you fairly quickly. And the prices are regular retail prices. The only time I might not be able to order what you are looking for is with paper because the majority of paper comes in packs of 25 (unless you want the whole pack!).

If you haven't been in yet this month, be sure to ask for your Frequent Shoppers Card when you check out. Tuesday is Double Punch Day and, due to an error on my part, we will also have double punch days on Wednesday for this month only.

We have alot of cute new stuff on order, but no place to put it! So this week our clearance & Valentine's sections are 50% off. Yes I said FIFTY PERCENT off! This week only. So come in & stock up on some goodies while they are at this incredibly low price.

We had a great time last Friday for the NSD pre-party and then Saturday at the all day crop. Here are some pictures from the all day crop. Everyone got a goody bag & atleast 1 other prize. We also gave away a Crop In Style Tote Bag that was pictured in a previous blog. If you would like one of these tote bags, we are taking orders. The retail price is just $19.99 which is a great deal for such a big (and super cute) tote bag. It is big enough to hold a 12x12 album or would make a great diaper bag!

This week is kind of quiet (so I can recover from NSD! :-). The calendar shows a private crop scheduled for Saturday, but this was cancelled because it is Mother's Day weekend. So instead we will have a crop Friday night (May 9th). I already have 5 people signed up so we will definately be having a crop that night. Call me to make reservations so you can finish up those last minute Mother's Day gifts!

Saturday we will be having our 1st Make & Take (we were supposed to have some on our 1st day, but some how it just never happened! ). We will be doing a cute Mother's Day gift tag. This will start at 1pm & go until we run out (we have 20 total).

Our next class will be the Beginner's Cricut class on Tuesday, May 13th at 6pm. This is a very basic class for those that are considering buying a Cricut or those that have one but are unsure what all it can do. Cost is just $5 per person & we still have spots available. Call to make your reservation today. Next month we will change it up and do a layout using things that we cut from the Cricut machine.

If you haven't been by the store since May 1st, be sure to ask about our new frequent shoppers card. Due to the hectic schedule I had last week, the punch card says that we will have double punches on Tuesday, but the calendar for May says we will have double punches on Wednesday. So for the 1st month, we will have 2 double punch days! Once your card is full, you will get a $15 gift certificate to use yourself or give as a gift. Since we have started this new program, we will discontinue the monthy drawing after this month. Now watch, the pink and brown tote that I have been waiting on will finally show up! LOL!

Finally!

Finally! I'm getting to do another blog! LOL! First, the blog was block by the automated spam software that blogspot has. Then once it was unlocked, I was having problems with my wi-fi so I haven't been able to use my laptop this week.

Our License Plate Wall Hanging Class last Saturday went great! Here is a picture from it. Everyone made their wall hanging a little different. Jacklyn made her's for her office door.

This Saturday is the Mom & Me crop from 11 till 5pm. You do not have to stay the entire time, just come & enjoy some quality time with your child without paying attention to all the "rules" of scrapbooking. And there is no age limit on this class. Last time we had a mom & daughter working on the daughter's wedding invitiations! Cost is just $1 per person to cover the cost of the juice & cookies. We also offer wi-fi for all of you digital scrapbookers.

I have been busy this week marking in new products. Come check out the adorable sheer flowers that we received from Creative Impressions or the Clear Scraps albums & stuff. We also received the 1st shipment of the new releases from Creative Imaginations. This includes the adorable Busted line and their new FFA line.

1st Blog!!!!

This is my 1st blog!! At least my 1st non-MySpace blog. I'm Kim & I own Kim's Scrap & Crop in Denton, TX. We opened on January 19, 2008, but we have been working and planning for over a year before that. Most of my background is in sales (either retail or wholesale), but just before I opened the store I was a claims adjuster. I know! Yuck! It's pretty sad when owning your own business is less stressful than your last job. I have always wanted to own my own business, it was just a matter of figuring out what kind of business. They say to find what you love & make that your job. Well, I love to scrapbook and there was not a scrapbook store/crop room in Denton so here we are! The picture is of our sign at night. It's big, it's bright & it's been our best advertisement!

I try to carry things that you won't find at the big box stores. After my last trip to HL, I found a few duplicates, but for the most part I have different things. My newest addition has been Creative Imaginations. Their self adhesive paper lace has flown off the shelves! I only bought 2 different colors to see how it sold and I am down to 1. I will be ordering more soon! I have also ordered Autumn Leaves stamps. I can't wait to get the journaling and flourish stamps in! I recently received an assortment of Hanna Stamps as well. Cute, Cute, Cute!! One of my favorite brands right now is Best Creations. They have some WONDERFUL glitter paper for only 99cents! You can't beat that price for glitter paper! And they have these adorable metal rimmed sticker tags. Just way to cute! Since we do have a Michale's and Hobby Lobby in Denton I try to stay away from some of the bigger items that you can just go there & buy with the coupon. If there is something bigger that you are looking for & can't find, just ask me. I have a wonderful distributor that I can get all sorts of goodies from and I would be very happy to place a special order for you.

Our next class will be Saturday, April 12th from 1 -3pm. Cost is $20. We will be making this adorable license plate wall hanging to show off your favorite photos! Peggy will be teaching this class. All you need to bring is some adhesive and scissors.

Mark your calendar for National Scrapbooking Day on Saturday, May 3rd. It will be here before you know it & we are having a luau! So dig out your grass skirt & join us for goody bags, contests, food & fun! Lunch & dinner will be provided.
